R.I.P. Charlee 2008-2009
We had no choice but to end Charlee’s suffering from urethral blockage. What upsets us the most is this could have easily been avoided with a little regulation from the Humane Society. Charlee was neutered at a very young age at the Humane Society. What we know now is when a male cat is neutered before he grows to be 9 months old his urethra remains at it’s underdeveloped children’s size. Charlee had a normal sandy discharge in urine that he couldn’t pass because of his underdeveloped urethra. According to the vet this happens all the time because places like Humane Society are neutering these cats so young and letting us owners suffer the heartbreak of major surgeries, or the inability to go through with them.
Maybe we’re just looking for something to blame and this vet is just yanking our crank, I dunno. This is how it was explained to us and it seems to make sense. Looks like it was a real common problem even. How does the Humane Society not know this? Do they know what they’re doing? Shouldn’t they know they’re sending awesome cats like Charlee to an early end?
You were a cool cat Charlee, you’ll be missed
